Romanian Red Cross

  • the Romanian Red Cross, in case of armed conflict and in peace time, prepares itself to act as an auxiliary of the public authorities in all the fields covered by the Geneva Conventions and in favour of all those in suffering, both civilians and militaries
  • the Romanian Red Cross contributes to the improvement of the health conditions, to the prevention of diseases and to alleviate the sufferings through community based programmes
  • it trains first aid volunteers and members of the Romanian Red Cross intervention teams, encourages and promotes youth’s involvement in the Romanian Red Cross activities as well as in their own activities
  • it organises, and participates, in international relief operations regardless of the causes and nature of the disasters
  • in co-operation with the authorities the National Society carries out tracing activities or activities for re-establishing family links interrupted by differing reasons
  • the Romanian Red Cross promotes its own activities and those carried out by other components of the International Movement; promotes and disseminates the International Humanitarian Law and the
  • Fundamental Principles:
  • the National Society concludes agreements, contracts or partnerships with non governmental organisations, with ministries and other national and local relevant institutions of the public administration, as well as with the private sector in view of developing mutually agreed programmes or projects
  • promotes, through projects and programmes, the voluntary and non-remunerated donation of blood
  • supports and initiates community based social programmes taking into account the local vulnerabilities and capacities
  • co-operates with the public authorities for ensuring the respect of the International Humanitarian Law and of the protection of Red Cross emblem in fulfilling its humanitarian mission.
