Avalanche

An avalanche is the sudden fall or slide of a large mass of snow or rocks down a mountainside. It can be triggered by heavy snow or rain fall, changes in temperature, sound vibrations or by vibrations in the earth itself. Powder snow avalanches can reach 300km/h with masses involving millions of tonnes of snow.
