World Disasters Report 2009 - Focus on early warning, early action
Source(s): International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)
Published by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), this report argues that early warning without early action is not enough; early action can do more to reduce loss of life and protect livelihoods than can be achieved through emergency response alone. National governments, donors and all stakeholders must take up this challenge.

Source(s): Humanitarian Practice Network
This Good Practice Review writen by John Twigg, aims to help project planners and managers to:
• appreciate the significance of hazards (primarily natural hazards) and the risks associated with them;
• appreciate the need for risk management in project planning and implementation, and the value of such efforts;
• recognise the main issues that must be understood and addressed when carrying out risk reduction or disaster mitigation and preparedness initiatives; and
